DiMarco Group contributes to Hurricane Sandy relief effort
Rochester, NY, Wednesday, November 07, 2012—The Finger Lakes NY Region of the American Red Cross is pleased to announce receipt of a generous donation toward Hurricane Sandy relief.
On Tuesday, November 6, 2012, Red Cross CEO John Buttrill was presented with more than $17,500 from the DiMarco Group. The money will be used to assist with disaster relief, particularly in the case of Hurricane Sandy relief efforts occurring in Greater New York City, Long Island, and New Jersey.
“We have been able to see the devastation of hurricane Sandy first hand, as a supplier of temporary power and lighting to those affected in the Northeast,” said Joel DiMarco, President of ADMAR Supply Company and Executive Vice President of the DiMarco Group. “We felt the need to do more, and given our decades of consistent support to the Red Cross, we knew they would be best positioned to provide critical resources to the area to assist those with the greatest need.”
The donation came from several channels. John DiMarco Sr., Richard DiMarco II, and ADMAR Supply Company all made significant contributions; as well as employees of the DiMarco Group who made personal donations.
“It’s great to see local companies not only step up and donate to the Red Cross, but also involve their employees in a meaningful way. This provides everyone the opportunity to help those in need,” said Buttrill.
Joel DiMarco, President of ADMAR Supply Company, has a long history of involvement with the Red Cross. He first began volunteering in 2002 and joined the board in 2009. In 2011, he was elected to board chair and will complete his term as chair in 2013.
